Donald Anthony Malizia, 77 of Indian Springs Drive, Conover died Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem. Born November 27, 1931 in Fairfield County, CT, he was the son of the late Orazio and Angelina Carella Malizia. A Korean War US Army veteran, he worked with the US Postal Service for 33 years. After his retirement he worked for Hertz Rental Cars. He was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the Supreme Timers. He enjoyed bowling and golf. His wife of 54 years, Mary Alexandria Butkovsky Malizia of the home; a daughter, Lisa Pampena and her husband Tony of Stamford, CT; three sons, Donald Malizia, Jr. and his wife Carolyn of Beacon Falls, CT, Michael Malizia and his wife Lynn of Hickory and Brian Malizia and his wife Wendy of Clemmons, NC; a sister Joanne Venneri and her husband, Bob of Newbern, NC; a brother, Louis Malizia and his wife Allison of The Village, FL; eight grandchildren, Angela Plateroti, Laura Pampena, Anthony Pampena, Jr., Seth Malizia, Rebekah Malizia, Christian Frank, Vincent Malizia and Christopher Malizia and a great grandson, D.J. Plateroti survive him. In addition to his parents, his step mother, Luci Derubis, and two brothers, Anthony Malizia and Joseph Malizia preceded him in death. The funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday October 31, 2009 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church with Father Bob Ferris officiating.
