Don worked most of his life and retired 4 or 5 times, he was always going! He accomplished so much in his life he was proud of his family and would do anything for us, he was proud of his public service as a police officer starting out with Lincolnton county Sheriff's department and then moved us to Bessemer city where he spent the next 14 years on Bessemer city police department as many different ranks from an officer to Sargent, Captain and acting chief and when small town decided to have a detective he held that rank for a time. He was very proud of that time and we also was very proud of him! He gave up law enforcement and decide to take another path, he worked and cared for his family, devoted time to his church and volunteer fire department for years before and after he retired, however when he was 71 he took a supervisor security job as captain where Dusty worked and spent a lot of time with his son during this employment, and made many friends, he worked until he was 76 years old. Don was a devoted Christian, father, father in law and friend, he will be missed so very much.
