Doris Bridges

Miss Doris Bridges, 95, formerly of 1408 Watts St., a native of Durham, passed away at Trinity Ridge Nursing Home in Hickory on May 7, 2018.
Doris made the best baby blankets around, loved line dancing, playing bridge, and helping with crafts for community and church bazaars. She worked many years for First Federal Savings & Loan. She was also a faithful member of Duke Memorial United Methodist Church, especially the Open Door Sunday School class.
Doris was born Dec. 26, 1922, the fourth of six girls. Predeceased by her parents, Miles Bridges and Annie Link Bridges, as well as four sisters; Gelene, Mozelle, Phyllis and Mary Miles, she is survived by her sister, Betsy Bridges Ringgold of Little River, SC and many nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews, cousins and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date with burial at Pleasant Green UMC. Donations may be made in her memory to Duke Memorial United Methodist Church, 504 W Chapel Hill St, Durham, NC 27701 or Catawba Regional Hospice, 3975 Robinson Rd, Newton, NC 28658. The family is being served by Jenkins Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Newton, NC.
