Doris Marlow

October 14, 1934 — December 7, 2022

Doris Rose Raby Marlow, 88, of Conover died Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at Conover Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was the daughter of the late Paul Ernest Raby and Helen Reinhardt Raby Bailey. Doris graduated from Hickory High School as an Honor student and served as a Junior Marshall. She completed business courses at CVCC and later received certification as a Human Developmentalist from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA, enabling her to work with special needs children.

With a love of sacred music, she became the organist for a small evangelical and reformed church at age 15, later directing the adult and junior choirs for 12 years. She served various churches for over 30 years, including Bethel UCC and Old St. Paul's Lutheran Church, and she sang in the Catawba Valley Community Chorus. Doris retired as a bookkeeper for a furniture retailer, accounting and payroll clerk for a furniture manufacturer, receptionist for R.R. Donnelley, receptionist and payroll clerk for Abernethy Laurels, church organist and Director of Music. She was a member of St. Paul's Reformed Church.

Her son, Kenneth Lee Marlow of Conover and a niece, April Raby Wesolowski of Statesville survive her.
Her husband of 57 years, Lee Bolick Marlow, and a brother, Paul Bernard Raby, in addition to her parents, preceded her in death.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, December 14th, at 2 PM at Old St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery, 2035 Old Conover-Startown Road, Newton, NC. Pastor Rob Helton will officiate.
