Dorothy Bush

December 31, 1969 — January 6, 2023

Dorothy “Dottie” June Bush passed away peacefully January 6, 2023, in Icard, North Carolina. Dottie was born on June 27, 1929 to Frank and Clara DeLuca. She was a long-time resident of Pinecrest, a retirement community in Hickory, North Carolina. She loved the inviting home and the great friends she made there.

Dottie married the love of her life, Nicholas Joseph Bush, on September 17, 1949. Nick passed away in Hickory, February 19, 2019, in the 70th year of their marriage.

Dottie and Nick danced and sang through their lives together, in the early days of their marriage, swing dancing to the music of big bands. They raised their kids in North Royalton, Ohio, often volunteered for worthwhile causes, and were active in several service clubs. They later moved to Charlotte, then Florida, then back to Hickory, where they enjoyed their golden years together.

Dottie worked as a medical secretary and later as a secretary-receptionist. She was appreciated for her great Italian cooking skills and for entertaining with a flair. She was loved for being a great wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and trustworthy friend.

Dottie's family includes her three sons, Bruce (spouse, Gary, deceased), Craig (spouse, Denise), and Todd (spouse, Lorie); her two grandsons, Nicholas (spouse, Julie) and Christopher (spouse, Chris); her great-granddaughter, Cassidy “CC” Bush; her brother, Don (spouse, Carla); and her cousin, Jeanette DeAnna (spouse, Lino). Dottie's nephew, Ryan, pre-deceased her, but she is survived by her nieces, Tracy (spouse, Scott), Diana, and Bonnie (spouse, Bob, deceased). She also had a son, Jeffery, who died in infancy.

Dottie Bush shined a bright light of love, graciousness, and style on everyone she met. She will be remembered for her kindness to others and for always looking great!
