Dorothy Smith

Dorothy "Dot" Emma Sigmon Smith, of Newton was called home to heaven after a brief illness on Thursday, May 4th, 2017. Born on April 25th, 1925, Dot had just turned 92. She was the loving wife of the late Clarence A Smith. Dot was the daughter of the late Thomas Sigmon and Bertha Sigmon. She had 6 brothers and 5 sisters.   One daughter, Sharon L. Smith of the home; one son, Clarence Monroe Smith of the home; two grandchildren, Lorie Phillips and husband Tim and Clayton M. Smith and wife BreeAnn; five great grandchildren, Bradly Phillips, Amber P. Ashley and husband Joe, Ella Killian, Annabella Smith, and Betty Smith; and seven great great grandchildren, JoJo, Nate, Zayden, Emaly, Abel, Jace, and Colton Ashley survive her.  The receiving of friends will be from 10-11:00am Saturday at Gateway Baptist Church. The funeral will follow at 11:00 am Saturday, May 6th, 2017 with Pastor Jerome Walker  officiating.  Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
