Douglas Kenneth Pugh 71 of Hickory died August 15th, 2013 at Frye Regional Medical Center. Born July 27th, 1942 he was the son of the late George Ted Pugh and Ella Louise Pugh. He was the grounds superintendent at Catawba Memorial Park for 18 years. He coached baseball and softball at Hickory Recreation Department for several years and made many friends working the concession stand at Stanford Park softball field in Hickory. His passion and favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren. His wife of 41 years, Mary Pugh of the home; three sons, Doug Scott of Clarksville, VA, Robert Wayne Pugh and wife Lauri of Richmond, VA and Robert Earl Pugh and wife Kim of Newton, a daughter, Shelly Jamerson Bryan and husband Scotty of Chase City, VA, two brothers, Mike Pugh of Concord, NC and Thomas Pugh and wife Mildred of Chase City, VA, three sisters, Madeline Bush of Clarkesville, VA, Catherine Scott of Clarksville, VA, Jean Crownover and husband Alan of Little Rock, AR, nine grandchildren, Kelly, Samantha, Makala, Bobby, Ashley, Gabriel, Kody, Kelsea and Kynsea and a number of nieces and nephews survive him. In addition to his parents, three brothers, Bill Pugh, Lee Pugh and Henry Pugh and a sister, Elizabeth Younger preceded him in death. The funeral will be 2:00 pm Saturday August 24th, 2013 at Huntington Hills Church of God with Pastor Chris Music and Pastor Danny Owens officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 pm Saturday August 24th, 2013 at at the church . In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials may be made to the Douglas K.
