Durrell Derstine Detweiler, 85, of Hickory passed away Friday, May 18th, 2018 at his home. Born March 18th, 1933 he was the son of the late Charles Rickert and Rachel Derstine Detweiler.
Three daughters, Gwen Zook and husband Darrell of Harrisonburg, VA, Yvonne Martin and husband Mike of Harrisonburg, VA, and Melody Phelps and husband Robert of the Dominican Republic; three sons Glenn Detweiler and wife Carol of Hickory, Dennis Detweiler and wife Cindy of Hickory; and Merlin Detweiler and wife Becky of Hickory; 16 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren survive him.
His wife of 59 years Miriam Alderfer Detweiler; a great grand daughter Claire Martin; and all his siblings preceded him in death.
The funeral will be 3pm Tuesday, May 22nd, 2018 at Mountain View Mennonite Church with Randy Smith officiating.
Burial will follow at Mountain View Mennonite Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Sunday May 20, 2018 at Mountain View Mennonite Church.
