Edward Burnette

June 10, 1936 — November 4, 2018

Edward Leon Burnette, 82, of Newton passed away Sunday, November 4th, 2018 at his residence of Alzeheimers Disease. Born June 10th, 1936, he was the son of the late Jodie Burnette and Vida Shaddix Burnette. He graduated from Union High School and Catawba Valley Technical Institute. He served eight years in the US Army Specialists. He graduated from the US Army Engineering School and served a tour of duty in Germany. A self proclaimed "workaholic," he retired from Ethan Allen in Maiden after 40 years as an upholsterer. His favorite pastime was working and enjoying the outdoors.

A daughter, Patricia B. Little of the home; three beloved sisters, Lois Thomas, Shirley Burnette and Diane Burnette all of Florida; special friends, Doug Story, Charles Thomas and Andre' Roy; a grandson, Eric Ashley and a granddaughter, Erica Amber Little survive him.

In addition to his parents, a brother, J. B. Burnette preceded him in death.

The funeral will be 11:00 am Thursday, November 8th, 2018 at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Aaron Causby officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am-11:00 am Thursday, November 8th, 2018 at the Celebration Center of Jenkins Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carolina Caring Hospice 3975 Robinson Road Newton, NC 28658.
