Edwin Frederick Leonhardt, 93 of Arden Drive, Lincolnton, died Wednesday May 30, 2007 at his residence. Born July 2, 1913, he was the son of the late Edward Frederick Leonhardt and Martha Helen Heuer Leonhardt. In 1952, Edwin was a Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was commander of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary, 2nd Division in 1959 and 1960 of Flotilla 0508 in Dayton, KY. He was the Commodore for the Yacht Clubs in Dayton and Ludlow/Bromley, KY. He was a licensed electrician working for Berke and Encore Electric Companies in Cincinnati. Upon moving to Florida, he then worked for Dixie Electric and Northridge Electric Companies in Ft. Lauderdale until his retirement in 1978. At age 89, he met his second wife, Jacqulen in an Internet chat room. In 2005, they moved to Lincolnton, NC. This year, Ed celebrated 60 years as a master mason. His first wife of 67 years, Matilda Rose Leonhardt preceded him in death. He is survived by his second wife, Jacqulen Gifford Leonhardt of the home; two sons, Edwin J. Leonhardt and wife Doris of Ocklawaha, Florida and William A. Leonhardt and wife Betty of Cincinnati, Ohio; a step daughter, Jacqulen Suzanne Blake and husband Kevin of Lincolnton, NC; 11 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. A Celebration of Edwinâ??s life will be 5:00 p.m. Saturday, June 2, 2007 at Augsburg Lutheran Church in Cincinnati. Masonic graveside rites will be at 6:00 p.m. at New Burlington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Lincoln County, 107 N. Cedar Street, Lincolnton, NC 28092. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.jenkinsfuneralservices.com.
