Elvie Lou Carpenter Coleman 73 of Newton died Tuesday July 23rd, 2013. Born July 8th, 1940 she was the daughter of the late Everette Roosevelt Carpenter and Bessie Maude Wilson Carpenter. An active member of Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion, she enjoyed traveling and fishing. Three daughters, Rebecca Coleman Yarborough and husband Kevin of Newton, Letitia Diane Coleman Riddle of Gastonia, Joyce Lynn Schaeffer of Titusville, FL; two brothers, Carl Carpenter and wife Virginia of Gastonia and Kenneth Roger Carpenter of Gastonia; six grandchildren, Michael Justin Haas, Tabitha Ruth Hope, Elvie LaVon Riddle, Hannah Leigh Yarborough, Cassie Lynn LaForce and Ethan Cole Yarborough; two great grandchildren, Camron Dean Carter and Madalynn Brooke Carter survive her. In addition to her husband Jesse Ernest Coleman, a sister, Joyce LaVon Carpenter; two brothers, Earl Edford Carpenter and Melvin Wilson Carpenter and a grandson, Everette Earl Riddle preceded her in death. The funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Friday July 26th, 2013 at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brian Correll officiating. Burial will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
