Era Abernethy

Era Mae Arndt Abernethy, 75 of Startown Road, Maiden died Thursday, January 29, 2009 at her residence.  Born September 22, 1932 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Ralph T. and Gladys Burgess Arndt. A member of First Baptist Church in Lincolnton, she worked with Southern Bell for 15 years and Rosh Laboratories over 10 years. Her husband of 38 years, David Marce Abernethy; a daughter Pam & husband Terry Saine of Newton; a son Jeff & wife Anne Bolick of Plano, TX; a step daughter, Cutine & husband Roger Matthews of Conover; a step son, Glenn & wife Joanne Abernethy of Newton; a sister Margaret Reitzel of Newton; 4 grand children, Hannah, Sarah, Alan, Erin, Glenda and one great grandson, Luke. The funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 1, 2009 at the Chapel of Jenkins Funeral Home with Dr. Stanley Spence officiating. Entombment will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, just prior to the service. Memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church of Lincolnton, 201 Robin Road, Lincolnton 28092. Online condolences may be sent to www.jenkinsfuneralhome.net.  The Abernethy family has entrusted arrangements to Jenkins Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Newton.  Â
