Esperanza Garcia M. de Castillo, 95, of Newton died Monday, December 8, 2024 at Decedent's Home. Born November 1st, 1929 in Mexico City Mexico.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm-7:00 pm, Thursday, December 12th, 2024 at Celebration Center of Jenkins Funeral Home. The family will also receive friends from 11:00 am-12:00 pm Friday, December 13th, 2024 prior to the service.

The funeral service will be 12:00 pm, Friday, December 13th, 2024 at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel. The service will be Live Streamed at https://www.facebook.com/JenkinsFuneralHome.
Burial will follow at Jenkins Cemetery.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Esperanza Garcia Morales viuda de Castillo, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her friends and family from the barrio called her Lanchito, and she touched many lives as Sister Esperancita. Esperanza was a woman of grace, wisdom, and unwavering strength and faith in Christ. Her gentle spirit, infectious laughter, dazzling smile, unmatched fashion style, and ability to make everyone feel at home will forever be cherished. Esperanza was a source of boundless love and guidance. Her kitchen was a place where memories were made–whether it was the smell of her famous tamales or the stories she shared of her youth. She taught us the importance of kindness, patience, and resilience. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth, where her door was always open, and her heart always full. She was a friend, a mentor, and a role model. Esperanza had a way of making everyone she met feel special and valued, and her legacy will live on in the lessons she imparted to all who knew her. She never missed an opportunity to tell her loved ones how proud she was of them, and her love of family was evident in everything she did.

Her will to live was unmatched. A stronger person would be hard to find, yet her body grew weary. She left us peacefully on the evening of Sunday, December 8th, surrounded by the love and warmth of her family. Esperanza was born on November 1, 1929 in Mexico City, Mexico, to Amalia Morales Hernandez and Victoriano Garcia Guadarama. She immigrated to Chicago in July 1988, and she later moved to North Carolina in November 1998 where she lived for the remainder of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband Ramon Castillo Espinoza, mother Amalia Morales Hernandez,brothers Adolfo Garcia Morales and Andres Lucero Morales,and two of her sons, Javier Castillo Garcia and Martin Castillo Garcia.

Esperanza was a dedicated mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She treasured her children and was a fierce defender and protector. For more than 50 years, she worked as a fashion seamstress, often working long into the night and falling asleep at her sewing machine to provide for her family. Her children remember falling asleep to the sound of the sewing machine, and they would sometimes sleep at her feet to be close to her. She spent many years afterwards as a caregiver for her grandchildren and for several children from families in her community. Esperanza was also a highly-skilled crafter, and her hobbies included embroidery, sewing, knitting, crocheting, gardening, and model-making. Creating handmade gifts for her family and friends brought her exceptional joy.

Esperanza was a devoted Seventh-Day Adventist Christian and follower of Jesus Christ. Her family fondly remembers how she faithfully studied the Bible, and how she ministered to countless members of the community through Bible studies and acts of service. For more than twenty years, Esperanza wrote messages of love and comfort to inmates in correctional facilities, many of whom affectionately called her “mother.” Esperanza was deeply embedded in her local church, Hickory Spanish SDA Church, where she served as a volunteer Master Guide in the church’s Adventurer, Pathfinder, and Master Guide programs for 17 years. She was awarded the rank of PLA.

For almost 40 years, Esperanza lived with her daughter Maria Dolores Castillo, and helped raise Maria’s daughter, Rebeca Castillo,her granddaughter acting as a second mother to her.The three shared a precious bond and a fierce love for one another. Maria Dolores became Esperanza’s primary caregiver as Esperanza grew older, and Maria lovingly cared for her until the day she passed. We praise God for gifting Esperanza a full life as a caring daughter, wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend. Esperanza will be missed and forever in our hearts. She is survived by six of her children, Maria Guadalupe Farfan, Maria Dolores Castillo, Maria del Carmen Leon, Luis Ramon Castillo, Angel Castillo, and Jose Cruz Castillo as well her adopted sister Gabina Chilpa Morales; her grandchildren Rocio, Oscar, and David Farfan; Rebeca Castillo; Dulce Esperanza Petters and Victoria Crouse; Pablo y Emilio Castillo; Claudia Ahkbar, Laura Hernandez, Perla Baratta; Montserrat Santoyo, Emmanuel and Ismael Castillo; and her great grandchildren Madison and Joshua Farfan; Miles Crouse; Paula Castillo; Valentina Castillo, Saulo and Caleb Hernandez; Diego Ortega and Joaquin Baratta; Benjamin and Diego Castillo; Carolina Castillo.




Con gran pesar anunciamos el fallecimiento de Esperanza García Morales viuda de Castillo, amada madre, abuela y bisabuela. Sus amigos y familiares del barrio la llamaban Lanchito, y tocó muchas vidas como la Hermana Esperancita. Esperanza era una mujer llena de gracia, sabiduría, fuerza inquebrantable y fe en Cristo. Su espíritu gentil, su risa contagiosa, su sonrisa deslumbrante, su estilo de moda inigualable y su habilidad para hacer que todos se sintieran como en casa serán recordados por siempre. Esperanza fue una fuente de amor y guía. Su cocina era un lugar donde se creaban recuerdos, ya fuera el olor de sus famosos tamales o las historias que compartía de su juventud. Nos enseñó la importancia de la amabilidad, la paciencia y la resiliencia. Su hogar era un santuario de calidez, donde su puerta siempre estaba abierta y su corazón siempre lleno. Era una amiga, una mentora y un modelo a seguir. Esperanza tenía una manera de hacer que todos los que conocía se sintieran especiales y valorados, y su legado vivirá en las lecciones que impartió a todos los que la conocieron. Nunca perdió la oportunidad de decirles a sus seres queridos lo orgullosa que estaba de ellos, y su amor por la familia era evidente en todo lo que hacía.

Su voluntad de vivir era incomparable. Sería difícil encontrar una persona más fuerte, pero su cuerpo se cansó. Rodeada de su familia, partió en paz la noche del domingo 8 de diciembre. Esperanza nació el 1 de noviembre de 1929 en la Ciudad de México, México, hija de Amalia Morales Hernández y Victoriano García Guadarama. Emigró a Chicago en Julio 1988 y después se mudó a Carolina del Norte en 1998 donde vivió el resto de su vida . Le precedieron en la muerte su esposo Ramón Castillo Espinoza, su madre Amalia Morales Hernández, sus hermanos Adolfo Garcia Morales y Andres Lucero Morales, y dos de sus hijos, Javier Castillo García y Martín Castillo García.

Esperanza fue una madre, abuela y bisabuela dedicada. Apreciaba a sus hijos y era una feroz defensora y protectora. Durante más de cincuenta años trabajó como costurera de moda, a menudo trabajando hasta altas horas de la noche y quedándose dormida frente a su máquina de coser para mantener a su familia. Sus hijos recuerdan que se quedaban dormidos con el sonido de la máquina de coser y, a veces, dormían a sus pies para estar cerca de ella. Después de jubilarse pasó muchos años cuidando a sus nietos y a varios niños de familias de su comunidad. Esperanza también era una artesana muy hábil y sus pasatiempos incluían bordar, coser, tejer, hacer crochet, jardinería y hacer modelos. Crear regalos hechos a mano para su familia y amigos le brindaba una alegría excepcional.

Esperanza era una cristiana Adventista del Séptimo Día devota y seguidora de Jesucristo. Su familia recuerda con cariño cómo estudiaba fielmente la Biblia y cómo ministraba a innumerables miembros de la comunidad a través de estudios bíblicos y actos de servicio. Durante más de veinte años, Esperanza escribió mensajes de amor y consuelo a prisioneros, muchos de los cuales la llamaban cariñosamente "madre". Esperanza estaba profundamente arraigada en su iglesia local, la Iglesia Adventista Hispana de Hickory, donde sirvió como Guía Mayor en los programas de Aventureros, Conquistadores y Guias Mayores de la iglesia por 17 años. Recibió el grado de PLA.

Por casi 40 años, Esperanza vivió con su hija María Dolores Castillo y ayudó a criar a la hija de María, Rebeca Castillo, su nieta, actuando como una segunda madre para ella. Las tres compartían un vínculo precioso y un amor feroz entre sí. María Dolores se convirtió en la cuidadora principal de Esperanza a medida que ella crecía, y María la cuidó con amor hasta el día de su muerte.

Alabamos a Dios por haberle dado a Esperanza una vida plena como hija, esposa, hermana, madre, abuela, bisabuela, tía y amiga cariñosa. Extrañaremos a Esperanza y estará por siempre en nuestros corazones. Le sobreviven seis de sus hijos Maria Guadalupe Farfan, Maria Dolores Castillo, Maria del Carmen Leon, Luis Ramon Castillo, Angel Castillo, y Jose Cruz Castillo. También le sobrevive su hermana de adopción Gabina Chilpa Morales; sus nietos Rocío, Oscar, y David Farfan; Rebeca Castillo; Dulce Esperanza Petters y Victoria Crouse; Emilio Castillo; Claudia Ahkbar, Laura Hernandez, y Perla Baratta; Montserrat Santoyo, Emmanuel y Ismael Castillo; y sus bisnietos Madison y Joshua Farfan; Miles Crouse; Paula Castillo; Valentina Castillo, Saulo y Caleb Hernandez; Diego Ortega y Joaquin Baratta; Benjamin y Diego Castillo; y Carolina Castillo.
