Ethel Harrell

Ethel LaVelle Mauldin Harrell, 92 of Hickory died Thursday, January 3, 2013 at her home. Born April 22, 1920 in Mendenhall, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late Charles Mauldin and Ethel Charity Dutherage Mauldin. Her first husband; Cuthbert Evans; second husband, William Lumpkin; and third husband, James Harrell; eight brothers, Jimmy Mauldin, Kenneth Mauldin, Doyle Mauldin, Herbert Mauldin, Clayton Mauldin, Calvin Mauldin, Charles Mauldin and Ralph Mauldin; and a sister, Margaret Mauldin Matthews preceded her in death. Two daughters, Judy Evans Custer and husband Karl of Winchester, Va. and Jeannine Evans Glaze and husband Gary of Hickory; a son, Isaac Bert Evans of Hickory; three grand-children, Clayton M. Custer and wife Becky, Jonathan D. Custer and wife Cassie and Marsha J. Landry and husband Peter; 11 great grand-children; one great, great grand-child and a number of nieces and nephews survive her. The funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Hickory. Pastors Scott Hooks and Gerald Brown will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 a.m. at the church. Memorials may be made to Tabernacle Christian School, 1225 29th Avenue Drive NE Hickory, North Carolina 28601.
