Florence Mccorkle

On Tuesday, September 19, 2023, our queen, our mother, and grand-
mother, Florence Elizabeth Foote McCorkle finished her course, took
her place in line and waited for the Lord to cross over Jordan.

She was the daughter of Marvin Springs and Lula Foote. Florence was
born on May 5, 1941 and educated in the Catawba County Schools and
graduated in the 1959 class of Central High School. She worked for
over 40 years with Broyhill Furniture Company and later with Catawba
County Schools. She loved those children and often laughed about how
they called her grand maw.

Florence grew up at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, in Newton, NC and later
joined Morning Star First Baptist, Hickory, NC where she enjoyed
singing on the mass choir.

She was an original member of the group, Ordinary People. She was
also a member of the Red Hatters Society.

She was a GREAT! Wife, Mother, Sister, Cousin, and Friend. She
loved the Lord, her family and people. To know her was to love her
because she never met a stranger. Florence was on the original com-
mittee of the MCE annual reunion established in 1985. She loved Thanksgiving
and Christmas dinners, or just anytime family could get together.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Jackie, and grandson
Devon.

She leaves to cherish her memory husband Gene McCorkle, sons Greg
Foote, Charlotte, NC, Michael Foote, Newton, NC, step-daughter La-
vonia Outerbridge, Charlotte, NC, sister Carrie Jones, Greensboro, NC.

There are nine grandchildren, Ikeha Odom, Erica Foote, Merlong Tay-
lor, Adrian Parson, Jordan Lineberger, Jalen Foote, Zoe Lane,
Devaughn and Jason Outerbridge. There are fourteen (14) great-
grandchildren, along with a host of relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 2-2:30PM Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Morning Star First Baptist Church, located at 126 4th Ave SW, Hickory, NC 28602. The Funeral Service will follow at 2:30PM with Rev. David E. Roberts officiating the service.
