Floyd Yoder

Floyd Lewis "Muldoon" Yoder, Sr., 82 of Hickory died Thursday, September 22, 2016. Born January 27, 1934 he was the son of the late Eli Charles Yoder and Florence Lucille Williams Yoder. He served in the US Air Force for 10 years. He served as a Lieutenant at Hickory Police Department for 22 years and retired from Catawba County Sheriff's Office after 10 years of service. After retirement from law enforcement he drove a tour bus for 7 years. Early in his career he hosted the Lew Floyd Good Gospel Music Show on WIRC radio. He was a NASCAR fan, especially Dale Earnhardt, Sr. fan. He also enjoyed baseball and football. He was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church, Hickory Masonic Lodge 343 and a 50 year member of the American Legion Post 48. His wife, Marian Marie Hollar Yoder of the home; four sons, Floyd L. Yoder, Jr. and wife Sharon of Hickory, Michael A. Yoder and wife Dana of Taylorsville, Barry O. Yoder and wife Tina of Hickory and Keith E. Yoder and wife Jo Ann of Hickory; and eight grand-children and three great grandchildren and his beloved cat "Lucky" survive him. A sister Virginia Hudson and a brother, Charles Yoder preceded him in death. The funeral will be 3:00 pm Sunday September 25th, 2016 at Woodlawn Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Ed Yount officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. Military rites will be provided by American Legion Post #48 and Hickory Masonic Lodge 343. Honorary Pallbearers will be Hickory Police Department and Catawba County Sheriff's Office Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 1-2:45 pm Sunday at Woodlawn Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association and the American Kidney Foundation. Please sign the online guestbook at www.jenkinsfuneralhome.net.
