Franklin Flanagan

Franklin Eugene "Gene" Flanagan aka Pumpkin Head, 76, of Newton passed away Sunday, December 18, 2022 at Frye Regional Medical Center. Born Friday, May 24th, 1946 he was the son of the late Robert and Bertha Flanagan.

Gene loved watching wrestling and fishing. He cared deeply for his wife of 59 years and childhood sweetheart, Ella Mae Flanagan aka Cabbage Head, and their dog, Gizmo. He will be remembered for his strength and love for his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Debbie Burgess and her husband Johnny Burgess of Easley, SC, daughter Vicky West and her significant other Chris Gregory of Newton, his son Jeff Flanagan and wife Kelli Flanagan of Newton, grandchildren Josh Burgess, Jonathan Burgess, Jessica Sigmon and husband Aron Sigmon, Brittiny Harmon and significant other Keith Baughman, Cody Flanagan, Brooke Huffman and husband Landon Huffman, Kali Flanagan, Tyler Flanagan; his great-grandchildren Madison Burgess, Carter Sigmon, Kiley Harmon, and Maddox Harmon.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Bertha Flanagan, and all of his brothers and sisters.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 20th, 2022 at Jenkins Funeral Home Celebration Center.

The funeral will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 20th, 2022 at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jody York officiating. Burial will follow at Jenkins Cemetery.
