Gail Powell

Gail Lucille Phillips Powell, 66 of Lutheran Home East, Hickory, died Thursday, November 5, 2009 at Frye Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Born July 18, 1943 in Catawba County, to the late Johnny Finley & Lucille Tyler Phillips. Gail worked in Hosiery Manufacturing as a pairer, at her fatherâ??s hosiery mill; Phillips Hosiery for many years. Three daughters; Dana Coveney of Hickory, Deana Terevinto of Hickory, Donna & Russell Davis of Granite Falls; A son, David Powell & wife Helen of Newton; three sisters, Sue Johnson of Hickory, Macy Eggers of Hickory, Helen Presnell of Hickory; A brother, Jerry Phillips of Hickory and grandchildren; Jamie Morrison, April Powell, Bradley Medlin, Onalee Medlin, Glenn Boone, Winter Roper & Whitney Roper survive her. Brothers, Glen Phillips, Wade Phillips, Joe Phillips, Bill Phillips, Fred Phillips and a grand-son, Tyler Franklin preceded her in death. A Celebration of Gailâ??s life will be 3:00 pm, Sunday, November 8, 2009 at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel, in Startown. Pastor Benjamin Cuthbertson will officiate. Interment will follow after the service at Springs Road Baptist Church Cemetery in Hickory.  The visitation will be 2-3:00 p.m. at the funeral home, prior to the service. Memorial may be made to: Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658. Condolence messages may be sent to www.jenkinsfuneralhome.net. The Powell family has entrusted arrangements to Jenkins Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Newton.
