Gene Yates

Gene R. Yates (1934-2015), 81, of Rimersburg, PA died at 1:08 PM on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, NC. The son of the late Earl Fredrick & Mildred Irene (Mitchell) Yates, he was an operating engineer in Palmyra, NY where he resided with his 3 children. His surviving children are Diane Yates of Palmyra, NY; Randy & Lyn Yates of Hickory, NC and Sam & Michelle Robertson of Mooresville, NC. He has 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Surviving siblings include Joy Rhodes & Jay Yates of Rimersburg; Judy Snyder of Sligo and Jan Tascarella of East Brady. Preceded in death by his brothers Jack Yates, Don Yates & Walter Yates. Gene will be remembered best for his love of repairing vehicles, his daily visits to the coffee shop, garage sale-ing, junk collecting and love for playing with his grandchildren. A small service for family will be held at Cherry Run Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Iredell County or the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson?s Research.
