George Wyatt Ligon went to be with the Lord April 27, 2021. He was born October 4, 1962 in Richmond Virginia, to Wendell and Mary Miles Ligon. He lived in Richmond, then moved to Indonesia where his parents were on the mission field. In the early 1970’s the family moved to Norfolk, Virginia and later to Charlotte, NC. George was a graduate of South Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte (1980), Lees-McRae College (1983) where he was on the clogging team and in the Highlanders Chorale; and Appalachian State University (1986).
George never met a stranger. He loved life, family, laughter and fun. He always took the time to listen if someone needed a friend. He had a big smile, warm heart and great hugs. He served as Branch Manager of Terminix of the Triad for more than 20 years. He was a member of Rumple Memorial Presbyterian Church in Blowing Rock, NC. He loved the
Lord, Appalachian State sports, Tarheel basketball, fishing trips, the beach, Merle Fest, and being with Michelle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wendell and Mary Miles Ligon, brother Jimmy, and stepmother Linda. He is survived by his brother Wendell Ligon of Hartsville, SC and his children Melissa Hudgins (Dave) and Wen Ligon of South Hill, Va, sister Lucy Heffelfinger (Karl) and their children Richard and Jonathan (Jeani) of Newton, NC, sister Rachel Bradley
and her children William and Mary River of Asheville, NC, and Michelle’s daughter, Sommer Barnes. Also surviving are stepsisters Wendy Deese (Jim) of Greensboro, NC and their sons Lane and Brooks, and Susan Sisk (Junior) of Ferrum, Virginia and son Patrick (Gina), and stepbrother Eric Wilson (Monica) of Charlotte, NC and their children Hannah Kessler (Cory) and Andrew Wilson.
George is also survived by cousins, and too many friends to count.
