Geraldine Benjamin Sudderth, 89, of Hickory Transitioned from labor to reward Friday, March 29th, 2019 at Brian Center East. Geraldine was born and raised educated in St. Thomas, Virgin Island. Geraldine is the daughter of the late Richard and Gertrude (Henry) Benjamin.
Proceeded in death by brothers Lee Andrew, Austin, Kenneth and Sidney Benjamin, sisters Amy, Alice, and Clairece Benjamin.
Geraldine is survived by a niece Renee Benjamin Exias and husband Alex of St. Thomas, Virgin Island; beloved nephew Kenneth Benjamin of Miami, FL.
Geraldine is survived by her surrogate family, caregiver and prayer partner of 38 1/2 years Frances Wilfong, Michael Wilfong, and the late Edward (Lynn) Wilfong; beloved God daughters Candance (Danielle) Wilfong of Nashville, TN, Destiny Burch of Hickory, NC; beloved God son and co-laborer in the Gospel Allen Wilfong of Orlando, FL; her spiritual daughter Glenda McCorkle of Hickory; beloved friends David and Jan Angel of Rock Hill, SC; and her Godchildren Carson, Corey, and Natalie Gaines.
Geraldine was loved by all who knew and met her. She had a love for cooking and serving others and was committed to God and prayer. Geraldine retired from Lake Hickory Country Club and Sarah Gaines' family as a nanny, after having retired from New York City Hospital after 40 years as an LPN nurse, EMS, pediatric and general nurse.
Geraldine attended St. Paul AME Zion Church and was an active member of Glory Unlimited Prayer Ministry where she has served for the past 38 1/2 years as Intercessory. Geraldine's Mantle of prayer will surely be missed in the earth. Geraldine's favorite song that she would always sing to the Lord was "As the deer pants for the water."
Geraldine took great delight in the care of her Godchildren.
Geraldine B. Sudderths Celebration of Life will be held 4:00 PM Thursday April 4, 2019 at St Paul AME Zion Church in Hickory with Rev. I Melvin Peay and Apostle David J. Short officiating.
