Gilbert Eugene Richards, 90, of Catawba passed away Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Citadel Nursing in Mooresville. Born in Jackson County WV on March 16th, 1931 he was the son of the late Ira Lewis Richards and Maggie Allen Richards. Gilbert loved rabbit hunting, NASCAR racing, and listening to his gospel music. He will be greatly missed by his family.
A daughter, Sandra Posten and husband Roger of West Virginia; two sons, Ricky Richards and wife Carolyn of Catawba, NC and Jerry Richards and wife Mary of Statesville, NC; five grandchildren Duane Richards, Nathan Richards, Bradley Richards, Dustin Thompson, and Jason Ball; and four great-grandchildren Danielle, Brittany, Jaden, and Sebastin; many nieces and nephews; and several step grandchildren and great-grandchildren survive him.
His wife, Mary Nelson Richards; two sons, Gary Richards and Terry Richards; four sisters, Ruby Nelson, Sylvia Evans, Belva Simons, and Emma Casto; one brother Hubert Richards preceded him in death.
The funeral will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 18th, 2021 at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Charles Buff officiating. Burial will follow at Faith Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM Tuesday, May 18th, 2021 at Celebration Center of Jenkins Funeral Home.
