Gina Michie Okimura, 67, passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at her home in Hickory, North Carolina. The daughter of George and Christina Okimura, Gina was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on Tuesday, June 21, 1955. At the age of one, Gina moved from Hawaii to Los Angeles, CA with her parents before the family eventually settled in Orange County, CA where she also raised her two daughters, Lea and Lindsey. In 2017, Gina moved across the country to North Carolina to start a new chapter of her life after retirement.
Gina was a voracious reader who loved crafting, baking with her granddaughters, trying new restaurants, and playing video games. She recently retired from a long career as an IT Programmer and was looking forward to spending more time with her family, traveling to new places and pursuing new interests like glass blowing and learning an instrument.
Gina was a kindhearted, selfless confidant who imparted her extensive wisdom to her beloved daughters and siblings. She was adored by all who knew her; her family and friends would say she gave the best hugs. Sometimes affectionately referred to as “Gramie,” she doted on her granddaughters who absolutely adored her, eagerly spending all their spare time with her.
Gina is survived by her two daughters Lea Morrison and Lindsey Hashimoto, son-in-law Jeremy Morrison, father George Okimura, brother Gerry Okimura, sister Gwen Gregory, and granddaughters Kaitlin and Lexi. She was preceded in death by her mother, Christina Okimura. Gina’s passing leaves a massive void in her family’s life. She will be forever missed and eternally loved.

“I think we dream so we don’t have to be apart for so long. If we’re in each other’s dream, we can be together all the time.”
“The most important thing is, even when we’re apart, I’ll always be with you.”
