Gladys Paige

Gladys Elizabeth Franklin Paige age 84, of Panama Drive in Conover went home to be with the Lord Sunday November 11, 2012 at Catawba Regional Hospice. Born May 23, 1928, she was the daughter of the late William Cornelius Franklin and Ola Cumye Messer. Gladys was employed with Hickory Springs as a supervisor. For 15 years she attended ALP of Conover and Hickory. Survivors include four daughters, Lin Deal of Conover, Gail Hackney of Granite Falls, Norma Deal and husband Dickie of Conover, Kathie Goodrum and husband Layne of Dudley Shoals; a son, Edward Lee Long and wife Glenda of Rhodhiss; a sister, Ella Mae Dishman of Lenoir; 18 grand-children, Chris Overstreet of Raleigh, Matthew Overstreet of Conover, Joshua Overstreet of Conover, Rick Overstreet of Tampa, FL, Kim Overstreet of Jacksonville, FL, Amanda Williams of Granite Falls, Beth Clay of Lenoir, Natalie Deal of Conover, Nicole Peterson of Conover, Dickie Deal, Jr. of Hickory, Shannon White of Hickory, Dena Hatley, Leslie Burns, Eric Esche of Granite Falls, Kimmie Frye and Jay Frye, both of Corpus Christie, TX, Matthew Spears and Gary Williams; 15 great grand-children and a great, great grand-daughter to be born in December, survive her. Three brothers, Carroll, Raymond and Johnny Franklin; a sister, Jeanette Michael; Her first husband, Lester Long and her second husband, Eugene Paige preceded her in death. The funeral will be 3:00 pm Wednesday November 14, 2012 at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor?s Clyde Bumgarner and Cody Ray officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Granite Falls, NC. Pallbearers include Christopher Overstreet, Matthew Overstreet, Joshua Overstreet, Gerald Bivens, Kurt Williams and Layne Goodrum. Honorary Pallbearers include Eric Esch, Matthew Spears, Gary Williams and Shannon Peterson. The family will receive friends 2-3pm Wednesday, one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
