Gordon Lee Priester, 82, of Newton, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 8, 2022 at Frye Regional Medical Center. Born November 11th, 1939 he was the son of the late Carl Priester and Ruth Julia Priester. Gordon loved the Lord and everyone in his church family. He enjoyed spending his leisure time golfing and completing puzzles. He loved things to work on, such as practicing his woodworking. Mr. Priester fought with the United States Navy and the ship he was stationed on was the OE1 Sacramento in California for a multitude of years.
In addition to his wife, Joan Priester; children, Nola Jean Weir of Conover, Lee Ann Stewart and husband Tim of Maiden; John Andrew Priester and wife Karri of Michigan; grandchildren, Nick, Julia Priester and Tyler Stewart; Brothers, David Carl Priester and wife Sharon and Glenn Arden Priester as well as two great grandchildren survive him.
In addition to his parents, Gordons sister-in-law, Sandy Priester and son-in-law, Bryan Lee Brass preceded him in his death.
The funeral will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, April 14, 2022 at Sandy Ridge Wesleyan Church, in Hickory, with Pastor Scott Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM, Thursday, April 14, 2022 at Sandy Ridge Wesleyan Church , located at 2330 16th Street North East, Hickory, NC 28601.
