Grace Adkins Scarce, affectionately known as ?Mam-Mam? 98 of W. ?B? Street, Newton died Friday, November 11, 2011 at Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley. Born February 21, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Denver Adkins and Mary B. Justus. Grace was a loving mother and grand-mother. She was an avid seamstress and enjoyed to cook. She loved it when her grandchildren came to visit. A daughter, Paula Sue Schmidt of the home, a sister, Ruby Gore of Groves, Texas, eleven grandchildren; Vicki Walker, Teresa Sykes, Jeff Poage, Mike Honeycutt, David Honeycutt, Darren Schmidt, Stephanie Walker, Stephen Schmidt, Shannon Busic, Josh Schmidt, and Kirsten Lutz, 19 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren survive her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Paul Henry Scarce; three daughters, Janice Pauline Scarce, Doris Joanne Poage, and Margaret Helen Honeycutt: four brothers, Ira J, Harold, Walton, and Paul Adkins; a sister, Edna Johnson and a Grandson, Steve Honeycutt. A graveside service will be 3:00 pm Sunday November 13, 2011 at Floral Garden Memorial Park in High Point, NC. Rev. Brandon Walker will officiate. Grandsons will be Pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00pm Sunday at Jenkins Funeral Home in Newton.
