Henry Jerome Schubert, 83 of Newton died Monday, March 16th, 2015 at his residence. Born November 30th, 1931 he was the son of the late Adam Francis Schubert and Mary Hagen Schubert. A U.S. Navy veteran, he was an aviation structural mechanic, Petty Officer 2nd class. He was a maintenance mechanic for UniLever for 30 years. He loved sports and boating. Henry was a big sports fan, having played both baseball and football in school. He loved the water and spending time on the boat with family. As Henry slowed down, his hobbies turned to building model airplanes and spending time with friends at the airport museum. His wife of 58 years, married on April 6, 1957, Ann Schubert of the home; two daughters, Fran Scheller and husband Ernest of Newton and Nancy Schubert-Travis and husband Steven of Port Republic, MD and a son, Henry Thomas and fiance Margie Ravenscroft of Baltimore, MD; two grandchildren, Katie Elizabeth Scheller and Henry John Schubert survive him. Two brothers, Paul Schubert and Bernard Schubert and five sisters, Marie Sunkel, Frances Schweiger, Margaret Schubert, Joan Gomez and Magadalen Brewer preceded him in death. The funeral will be 2:00 pm Friday, March 20th, 2015 at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel with The Rev. Dr. Stephen R. Disher officiating. Burial will follow at Jenkins Cemetery located at Jenkins Funeral Home, with military graveside rites provided by American Legion Post 16.
