Herman Howell

Herman Ray Howell 68 of Claremont died Saturday, January 20th, 2018 at Catawba Regional Hospice. Born November 15th, 1949 he was the son of the late Thomas R.D. Howell and Atha Gardner Howell. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Germany. He retired from the Hickory Police Department.
A daughter, Carla Virginia Howell of Virginia; a son, Dr. Thomas Clifton Howell and wife, Diane of Newton; two grandchildren, Hope Marie Howell and Faith Ann Howell; brother-in-law, Ronnie Crain of Rutherfordton; three nieces, Nannette Flack, Samantha Scoggins and Traci Epley and a nephew, Ronnie Crain, Jr. survive him.
In addition to his parents, Rev. R.D. Howell and Atha Lee Howell; his wife Cathy Reep Howell; and a sister, Nan Crain, preceded him in death.
A graveside Service and burial will be 2:30 pm Tuesday, January 23rd, 2018 at Gilkey Church of God Cemetery with Pastor Henry Montgomery officiating.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am-12:00 pm Tuesday, January 23rd, 2018 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Newton.
