Herman Howlett

April 23, 1949 — January 31, 2017

Herman Gates Howlett 67 of Vale passed away Tuesday, January 31st, 2017 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born  April 23rd, 1949 he was the son of the late Author Howlett and Thelma Newton. Herman served in the U.S. Navy "Seabee's", and was a man who loved his country. He worked at Duke Energy for 7 years and Cargo Transport for 13 years. Herman was an avid fisherman and loved to travel. He was a very loving and forgiving man who never met a stranger.   In addition to his wife of 48 years Emily Howlett of the home; two daughters Cynthia Howlett-Wagner and husband Jeff of New Bern; Misty Dawn Frazier of Hendersonville; a sister Cathy Gregg and husband Eddie of Hickory; two brother Roger Howlett of Hickory and a brother Joseph Costner of Conover; five grand cats; and three grand dogs survive him.
The Funeral will be 11:00am Saturday, February 4th, 2017 at Celebration Center of Jenkins Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Snipes officiating.   The family will receive friends from 10:00 am -11:00 am in the Celebration Center of Jenkins Funeral Home .   In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Catawba Regional Hospice
