Howard Bentley

Howard (Wayne) Bentley, 66 of Maiden, passed away to be with the Lord in Heaven Saturday, November 15th, 2014 at W. G. (Bill) Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury, NC. Born April 6th, 1948, he was the son of the late James Bentley and Gladys Tolbert Bentley. Wayne was an avid music lover, and gun enthusiast. He enjoyed shooting targets and loved to travel to the mountains and beach. Most of all he loved life and loved and cared for his family. He was a military combat veteran in the U.S. Army in Vietnam (1965-68), receiving two Bronze Stars. He also served in U.S.C.G (1972-75) in Norfolk, VA for three years and was a disabled veteran. In addition to his devoted wife of 38 years Janice Mitchem of Maiden; two daughters, Stacy Bentley of Marion, NC and Michelle Bentley of Marion; a son, Eric Bentley and wife Tina of Newton; a sister, Brenda Ewing and husband Milton of Newton; a special lifetime friend, Jay Ledbetter of Maiden; and four grandchildren, Cody and Devin of Marion, Ava and Teagan of Norfolk, Va, MaKyla and Kallen of Bethlehem, NC survive him. His parents, James and Gladys Bentley preceded him in death. The funeral will be 1:00 pm Tuesday, November 18th, 2014 at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel with Bobby Holtsclaw officiating. Burial will follow at May?s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12-1 pm Tuesday November 18, 2014 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to W. G.
