Idelia Reitzel Shook, 98 of Newton died Friday, November 28th, 2014 at Catawba Regional Hospice. Born June 30th, 1916 she was the daughter of the late Levi Martin Caldwell and Nona Drum Caldwell. She loved sewing for her family and friends, flower gardening, telling stories of the past and spending time with her family. Two daughters, Donna Reitzel Baker and husband Jim of Apopka, FL and Trudye Reitzel Putnam and husband Johnny of Hickory; three sisters, Edith Bolick of Hickory, Nina Lineberger of Maiden and Willa Vae Queen of Maiden; three grand-children, Angela Watts and husband Richard of West Jefferson, Ryan A. Robinson of Maiden and Megan Putnam of Hickory and three great grandchildren, Saylor Boone, Airy Robinson and Braxton Watts and many special nieces and nephews survive her. Her first husband, Claude C. Reitzel and her second husband, Alvin Shook; a special friend, William Setzer; three sisters, Elsie Flowers, Venta Dean Hunsucker and Vida Branch; six brothers, Dennis, Gaius, Arnold, Dean, Melvin and Wendell Caldwell preceded her in death. A Celebration of Idelia's life will be 1:00 pm Tuesday, December 2nd, 2014 at Abernethy Memorial United Methodist Church with Pastor Faye Herbin officiating. Burial will be at Eastview Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the ceremony, Tuesday, December 2nd, 2014 at Abernethy Memorial United Methodist Church.
