Biography Ina ?Ruth? Carswell Mingus, 82 of 10th Ave. Drive NE, Hickory died Thursday August 11, 2011 at her residence. Born November 7, 1928, she was the daughter of the late William Floyd Carswell and Bessie Mae Godfrey Carswell. Ruth worked at Roy Good Hosiery most of her life. She retired from MDI after 12 years. A Special friend of 41 years, Frank Trivette of the home, a daughter, Linda Odom Jenkins and husband Jr. of Hickory; a son, James Buddy Odom and wife Mona of Hickory; a step son, Larry Mingus & wife Barbara of Ft. Meyers, Florida; a sister, Judy McKinney of Hickory; four grand-children, Frank Odom and wife Carolyn, Dana Parker and Mark, Rhonda Sanford and husband Jonathan, and Dusty Odom and wife Rita; and a number of great grand-children and a number of great-great grandchildren survive her. In addition, she is survived by her loving dog, "Precious". In addition to her first husband, Harlan Andrew Odom; her second husband, James Ray Mingus preceded her in death. A funeral service will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday, August 13, 2011 at The Salvation Army Church, 750 3rd Ave. Pl. SE, Hickory. Major Kent Davis will officiate. The family will receive friends 11-12:00 p.m. Saturday, August 13, 2011, one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
