Ion Toma Dragoi s-a nascut la 25 Martie 1941 in satul Gotesti, Moldova. A ramas orfan de tata de la 7 ani. A avut o copilarie grea, a fost fortat sa lucreze cot la cot cu cei adulti de la 10 ani. Mama lui, Sofia Gradinaru, a crescut cei trei copii in saracie, cu mult greu si multe ne-cazuri. Trecand prin multe greutati a terminat scoala, a lucrat in multe locuri, si a fost iubit si respectat de oameni.
S-a casatorit la 7 Mai 1966 in Gotesti cu Mira Ciobanu. Au trait fericit 58 de ani, bucurandu-se de copii, nepoti si stranepoti.
L-a primit pe Domnul la 15 Iunie 1990 la biserica Betezda din Chisinau si a fost botezat impreuna cu Mira la 6 August 1991.
Din Decembrie 1991 s-a format biserica Baptista din Minjir in casa familiei Dragoi. Timp de 5 ani s-au bucurat impreuna cu fratii, au crescut in credinta si au primit multi oaspeti in casa lor din diferite parti.
Venit in America in Noiembrie 1996 a fost membry in biserica lo-cala Romana din Hickory. A lucrat impreuna cu Mira la Klingspor Abra-sives Inc. 14 ani pana s-au pensionat. Au fost iubiti si respectati si acolo.
In present au doua fiice, doi gineri, 5 nepoti, 4 stranepoti si 2 stra-stranepoti.

He married Mira Ciobanu on May 7, 1966 in Gotesti. They lived happily for 58 years, enjoying their children, grandchildren and great great-grandchildren
God saved him on June 15, 1990 at Bethezda church in Chisinau and was baptized together with Mira on August 6, 1991. In December 1991, he and his wife founded the Minjir Baptist church in their houshouse. They served there for 5 years enjoying the fellowship, growing in faith and watching the church grow.
He and his wife came to America in November 1996, became members of the Hickory Romanian church; and began working together at Klingspor Abrasives Inc. for 14 years until they retired. They were loved and respected there as well.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters, two sons-in-law, 5 grandchildren, 4 great great-grandchildren and 2 great great-great great-grandchildren.
