Jack Buchanan

Jack Edwin Buchanan, 88, of Newton went home to be with his Lord and Savior and was reunited after a short absence with his wife on Sunday, February 26, 2023 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born Saturday, July 21st, 1934 he was the son of the late Fred and Elma Buchanan.

His sons, Mark Buchanan and wife Loretta and Jody Buchanan and wife, Debra; his daughters, Kimberly Schwab and Beth Buchanan Shook; eight grandchildren, Luke Davis and wife Mallory, Olivia Hilton and husband Brad, Sophie, Alayna, Matthew, Kassidy, Madison and John Thomas and great-grandchildren, Gaines, Eisley, Parks, Chloe, Evelyn, Graham, Trystan, Trace, Aurora, Jack, Juniper, Alastor and Eleanor; his sisters, Judy Beard and Vickie Wood and husband Rick survive him.

In addition to his parents, his wife of 66 years, Rita Buchanan, his infant child, Kevin Buchanan, his infant sister, Florine Buchanan; his sister, Mae Pittman; his granddaughter, Darragh McNeill; his brother, Harry Buchanan; his sisters, Janice Hall and Glenda "Toots" Lominac preceded him in death.

The funeral will be 12:00 P.M. Thursday, March 2, 2023 at Gloryland Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Witherspoon and Rev. Macon Ballard officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service and burial will follow at the church.
