James Baker

James William Baker, 62, of Hickory, NC, passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2012 at Hospice of Catawba Valley. James was born in Catawba County, on January 24, 1950 to the late Guy Clifford and Junie Weaver Baker. Mr. Baker was a veteran of the US Army, James was a member of St. John?s Lutheran Church in Conover, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, and he enjoyed fishing in his spare time. In addition to his parents, Mr. Baker was also preceded in death by his brother; Guy Clifford Baker Jr. James is survived by his wife of 30 years Betty Baker of the home, stepdaughters; Sherri Hedricks and husband Shannon, of Conover, and Nancy Anderson and husband Tim of Hickory, sisters; Bessie Baker Kanipe of Newton, Elizabeth Baker Todd of Newton, Guylene Lutz and husband James of Maiden, Inez Shull of Conover, and Barbara Young of Conover, and sister in law; Gladys Baker, grandchildren; Jessie Ryan Hudson and wife Gana, Kristina Goodson, Kristopher Goodson, Nikki Goodson, Pamela Anderson Haberski and husband Brandon, Nellie Anderson Goodwin and husband Jonathan, and Johnny Howard Hudson Jr., and great-grandchildren; Elijah Vinson, Isabella Hudson, Tiffany Hudson, Cassidy Goodwin, and Brayden Goodwin. A service of remembrance will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at 4:00pm, at Faith Olive Baptist Church with the Reverend Steve Houser and Rev. Scott Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Monday, May 28, 2012 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Newton.
