James "Jamie" Allen Johnson died peacefully with his loving wife by his side on 6.11.24 at The Greens in Viewmont after a very short battle with cancer. He leaves behind Susan, his wife of 50 years, 3 sons, 8 grandchildren, 2 bonus grandsons, and 4 great grandchildren. He worked in textiles all of his life, starting out sweeping floors in Raeford,NC with JRA Industries and finally retired after owning his own company. He specialized in spandex material.
He remained fiercely loyal to his family, is beloved by his friends and never met a stranger. He learned how to defend himself by watching his sister, Barbara Johnson defend him from all the school yard bullies. He learned to love by watching his grandmother Nonie Chappelle. He learned to fish from his dad Henry Johnson and how to nurse by his mom Polly Clark and how to play checkers from his beloved uncle Buddy, all who have preceded him in death, except Barbara, who holds down the fort in Raeford, the town in which he grew up in, left the Navy for, and returned to in order to marry Mollie Sue, or Bella for short.
The family would like to thank Medi Home Health and Hospice for making the impossible happen for he and his wife. Without Medi Home Health and Hospice, his suffering would have been much greater.
Family and friends are having a memorial service at Jenkins Funeral Home in Newton on June 17th beginning at 2pm.
In lieu of flowers, please spay and neuter your pets, adopt don't shop, take a child fishing and when you put on your socks and underwear, remember he probably made it.
