James Shoup

James Marvin Shoup Sr., 75, of Hickory passed away Monday, May 21st, 2018 at his home. Born November 26th, 1942 he was the son of the late Marvin Estes Shoup and Mary Hipps Shoup. In his life he was a very kind and humble man who loved his Lord Jesus and his best friend, his wife. He cherished his family and brought joy to all he encountered.
His wife and best friend of 52 years Yolanda Martino Shoup; two daughters Lisa Bowman of Conover, Donna Whisnant and husband Thurman of Hickory; four sons James Shoup Jr. of Huntersville, Marty Shoup and wife Abielys of Hickory, Michael Shoup of Hickory, Jason Shoup and wife Alisha of Conover; and 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren survive him.
In addition to his parents; five sisters Mabel Whisnat, Ruth Welburn, Pat Cline, Dorothy Gross and Mary Shoup preceded him in death.
The funeral will be 2:00pm Thursday, May 24th, 2018 at Jenkins Funeral Home with Pastor Jason Shoup and Pastor Dean Hart officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1:00pm-2:00pm Thursday, May 24th, 2018 at Jenkins Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Crippled Children's Foundation, 2019 4th Ave N, Birmingham, AL 35203
