Jane Smith

Jane Carolyn Poovey Smith, 74 of Fairgrove Church Road, Conover, died Sunday January 3, 2010 at Palliative CareCenter and Hospice of Catawba Valley. Born June 21, 1935 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Charles Franklin and Lois Irene Gilbert Poovey. She was formerly employed as a hostess at the Snackbar, Shoneyâ??s and Fatboys restaurants. A daughter, Susan Hahn of the home; a sister, Julia Rippey of Hildebran; a brother, Michael Poovey of Newton; a grandson, Jeffrey Hahn and two great grandchildren, Harley Hahn and Taylor Hahn survive her. Three brothers, Jimmy Ray Poovey, Wayne Poovey and Danny Thompson Poovey and a sister, Frankie Irene Poovey preceded her in death. The Celebration of Life and Worship service will be 3:30 pm, Wednesday, January 6, 2009 at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel.
