Janet Sherrill Younghouse, 64 of Hickory died Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley. Born February 4, 1947 in Iredell County, NC, she was the daughter of the late David Lee Sherrill and Lula Mamie Godfrey Sherrill. Janet worked in the insurance field for over 47 years and for First Security Company in Hickory for over 26 years. She was a past officer for the Association of Insurance Women. Janet was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and member of L.W.M.L. In addition to her husband, Michael Edgar Younghouse of the home; a daughter, Jamie Davis Morrison and husband Ronnie of Statesville; three step sons, Scott Younghouse and wife Jess of Cumming, Georgia, Kurt Younghouse and wife Jes of Decautur, Illinois and Brad Younghouse of Conover; two sisters, Jewell ?Julie? Sherrill Bumgarner and husband Randy of N. Wilkesboro and Elaine Sherrill Ramsey and husband Michael of Mt. Pleasant, SC; and two grand-children, grand-son, Austin Morrison and grand-daughter, Kathryn Younghouse survive her. The family wishes to thank all the employees of First Security Company, who have supported her during her long illness and battle with cancer. They also wish to thank the caring staff of Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley. Her first husband, James Davis preceded her in death. A memorial service will be 3:00 pm, Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Christ Lutheran Church in Hickory. The Rev. Richard Schwandt will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 pm, Saturday, November 26, 2011 one hour prior, at the church. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church Building Fund, 324 Second Ave. SE, Hickory, NC 28602. The flowers at Janet's memorial service, provided by her family, were a bouquet of pink sweetheart roses on the left, to represent breast cancer and a bouquet of yellow roses on the right to represent Janet's specific type of cancer-Osteosarcoma.
