Janis Hager

Janis Elaine Hager, 72, of Hickory passed away Thursday, August 11, 2022 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born March 8, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Johnson Adolphus Huffman and Helen Elaine Huffman. Janis graduated from Hickory High School and received an Associates Degree from Catawba Valley Technical Institute. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Hickory. She loved travel, photography, writing poetry and was a huge Atlanta Braves fan.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Richard Hager. Family meant everything to her and she was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and sister.
She is survived by two sons; Scott Hager of Hickory and Kevin Hager and his wife, Amanda of Fayetteville; sisters Celia Reece and husband Joel of Hickory, Susan Allen and husband Jimi of Blowing Rock; brother Steve Huffman and wife Nancy of Hickory and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, August 14, 2022 at 3:00 P.M. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Hickory. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 at the church prior to the service.
Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Hickory.
