Jean Lamm

March 1, 1925 — July 9, 2012

Jean Hale Lamm, 87 of Strunk Ct., Newton formerly of Salem, SC died Monday, July 9, 2012 at Abernethy Laurels in Newton. Born March 1, 1925 in Charlottesville, VA., she was the daughter of the late Willie Green Hale & Betty Lee Hurtt Hale. Jean was a faithful and loving wife, mother and grandmother and great grand mother. She was active in Civic and church affairs. As a young wife and mother, she sang in the church choir and taught Sunday School. Recently she was the president and secretary of the Seekers Sunday School Class. She was a great cook specializing in country ham, sour dough bread,fried chicken and potato salad. She and her husband entertained business associates through the years. She was known for her southern hospitality. In addition to her husband of 66 years Charles Philip Lamm, of the home; two daughters, Betsy Lamm Lindler and husband Hugh of Newton and Sherrie Lamm Kunze and husband Bill of Columbia, SC; five grand-children, Chip Kunze, Jonathan Kunze, Mary Catherine Kunze, Charlton Lindler III and Philip Lindler; and a great, grand-daughter, Kaitlyn Kunze and survive her. Jean also left behind many precious friends. A brother, Earl Hale preceded her in death. A Celebration of her life and worship service will be 1:00 PM Friday July 13, 2012 at Walhalla First Baptist Church in Walhalla, SC. The Rev. Dr. Kenneth Hood will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the ceremony. Memorials may be made to Walhalla First Baptist Church, 403 East Main Street, Walhalla, SC 29691.
