Jearl Samuel Stamey 72, of Newton died Wednesday, June 28th, 2017 at his residence. Born October 14th, 1944 he was the son of the late Samuel Stamey and Mable Guy Stamey. He was a machine operator in the box manufacturing business most of his life, but more importantly honorably served his country doing three tours during the Vietnam War as a United States Marine. In addition to his wife Linda Carol James Stamey of the home; three daughters LaDonna Mabe, Christy Bragg, and Monica Miller all of Lincolnton; three stepsons Michael Swindle, Andy Swindle, and Brian Swindle; two stepdaughters Anita Swindle and Windy Baxter; two sisters Linda Hedrick of Conover, Mary Alice Slape of Humansville, Missouri; a brother Henry Stamey of Harrison, Arkansas; six grandchildren; nine step grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews survive him. A memorial service will be 11:00 am Saturday, July 1st, 2017 at McKendree UMC, 3537 Maiden Hwy., Lincolnton, NC, with Rev. Gregg Plott officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Caldwell County Honor Guard and The Marine Corps League. The family will receive friends from 9:30 am -10:45 am Saturday, July 1st, 2017 at the church.
