Jeffery King


Jeffery “Jeff” Sherman King, 68 of Conover, passed away unexpectedly on Friday September 9, 2022. He was born on July 12,1954 in Hickory, NC to the late Bernard “Bill” Abner and Helen Ball King.



Jeff loved traveling and spending time at the beach and mountains, going to church, gardening, and playing games with family every Saturday. Family was very important to Jeff and his son Daniel and grandchildren were his life. Jeff enjoyed spending time with family especially his nephew, Josh King. He loved meeting new people and never met a stranger. Jeff was a sheetmetal worker, painter, mover, and a jack of all trades and most recently enjoyed spreading extra cheer by ringing the bell for the Salvation Army every Christmas.



In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Lori Jill Smith. He was survived by his sons Daniel King (Brittney), Billy Stidham, grandsons Devin, Ashton, and Kameron King, granddaughters Kendra Faith and Kaylee Grace, brother Mike King (Diane), sisters Barbara Hines, Brenda Dellinger (Ray), Pat McKinney, Sandy Bryant (Johnny), Leisa Peck (Don), Robin Turner (Thomas) Lydia Kern (Thomas), Connie Ellington of South Carolina, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.



A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at Christ Lutheran Church located at 324 2nd Ave SE Hickory, NC where he was a life-long member. The family will have receiving of friends at 1pm with a service following at 2pm.



In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Salvation Army Hickory at PO Box 1167 Hickory, NC 28603-1167.
