Jenny Gurley

February 12, 1970 — October 14, 2017

Jenny Marilyn Gurley, 47, of Connelly Springs, died Saturday, October 14th, 2017 at her home.  Born February 12th, 1970, she was the daughter of Jackie Carroll and Lenny Stuart.   Jenny was a beautiful, vibrant, fiercely independent woman who worked hard to make life better for herself and everyone around her.  She put herself through nursing school and earned her nursing license.  She was at her best as a nurse – she loved those she cared for and put her heart and soul into her work.  Her love and compassion overflowed to all that surrounded her; family, friends, co-workers, residents, strangers, and animals.  She was a voracious reader and loved movies and British comedies.  She was at peace in nature and often went walking or hiking or sat around a fire at night to watch the stars.  One of her favorite joys was to drive on the parkway in her Jeep with the wind and sunshine all around her.  She was a creative soul and enjoyed both painting and writing.   Jenny is survived by her mother, Jackie Valesquez of Lenoir, her father, Lenny Stuart of Connelly Springs, her daughter, Devon Gurley of Hickory, her son, Geoffrey Swift of Belmont, a sister, Cindy Cale and husband, Josh Cale of Connelly Springs, two nephews, Joshua Cale of Asheville, and Seth Cale of Connelly Springs, and maternal grandparents, Sam and Alma Carroll of Connelly Springs.     No service is planned at the time.
