Jerry Randall â??Randyâ? Ballard, II, 44 of 8th Ave. NW died unexpectedly Saturday January 6, 2007 in Honolulu, Hawaii while visiting his aunt Elizabeth Ching. Born August 9, 1962 in Catawba County, he was the son of Jerry Randall and Betty Adams Ballard of the home. He was baptized into the Lutheran Faith and was talented in auto mechanics and home improvement recently returning from a completed job in New Orleans. At 14, Randy was student number 50,000th graduate to pass requirements for hunter safety at the firing range of the Catawba Valley Rifle and Pistol Club from St. Stephens High School and was honored in the June 1977 issue of Wildlife Magazine. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a son, Nathan Shane Ballard and wife, Nicole of Hickory; three daughters, Katee Marie, Erika Shay and Rachel of the Hickory area; a brother, Todd Steven Ballard of Hickory; two sisters, Pamela Flynn and husband Brian of St. Louis, MO and Dawn Edwards of Newton; a sister-in-law, Tammy Ballard of Hickory, five grandchildren, Destiny Queen, Cierra and Sequoya Ballard, Zachery Baker and Dakota Lilly; five nieces, three nephews, twenty four cousins, six aunts, three uncles and many friends and other relatives. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Claude Avery and Willie Spencer Ballard, maternal grandparents, Spencer R. and Nora Whitener Adams. Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday January 17, 2007 at St. Stephens Lutheran Church, ELCA with The Rev. Bill Mims officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7-9:00p.m. Tuesday January 16, 2007 at Jenkins Funeral Home.
