Jimmy Brittain

Jimmy Michael "Mike" Brittain, Sr., 66, of Hickory passed away Sunday, May 14, 2023 at Carolina Caring hospice house. Born in Morganton on January 8th, 1957, to the late Jimmy Bennett Brittain and Johnnie Mae Brittain. Mike was raised by his beloved uncle and aunt McCarthy "Mac" Browning and Carolyn "Crick" Browning, who both preceded him in death.

Mike was a 19-year member of Mountain View Baptist Church in Hickory, NC. In Jesus Christ his savior, Mike began to understand Jesus' love through prayer, hearing and studying the truth found in God's word. Also with loving brothers and sisters in Christ who helped guide and council him. These brothers and sisters are the strongest and most persistent, believing, prayer warriors he ever knew. Mike wanted to thank them in all love and in all gratitude for standing beside him and Carol and also for their prayers.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Carol Gibson Brittain, who stood by him through many things and who he loved very much; his sons Jimmy Michael Brittain, Jr., Ken Wilson, James "Jimmy" Adkins and wife Shannon, Kyle Adkins and wife Deana, Jeff Adkins and wife Becca, Kevin Adkins; his daughter Jamie Adkins; his sister Vickie Brittain Effler and her husband Johnny Effler; his sister-in-law Teresa Browning; and many grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Everett Browning.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM Thursday, May 18th, 2023, at Mountain View Baptist Church.

The funeral will be 3:00 PM Thursday, May 18th, 2023, at Mountain View Baptist with Dr. John Compton officiating. Burial will follow at Brookford Cemetery.
