Jimmy Devon Lineberger was born at Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville, North Carolina on October 18, 1954, to George and Dorothy Clark Lineberger. He departed this life, Monday, May 17.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Dorothy, a sister Molly, a precious niece Sade Lineberger, three brothers, Arthur, Tyrone, and Charles, and a grandson Aaron.
He spent most of his childhood in Catawba County where he attended Catawba County Public Schools. He later moved with the family to Danville, Virginia and upon return to North Carolina, he worked in furniture factories before relocating to New York City. There, he worked as a mechanic for U Haul and then at Black United Fund Inc. where he was a custodial engineer. He was responsible for the maintenance of over 75 housing units. But the passion of his life was working with trees. Cutting down trees, clearing lots, and trimming trees brought him back to NC in 2000.
In his spare time he loved fishing. Jimmy was known for his infectious smile, crazy sense of humor, upbeat personality, and he had that “GQ swagger" when he got dressed up. He had the uncanny ability to make the two fish he caught “ multiply” to become 6 or even 10. He had a way with children and the children at church called him affectionately, the candy man.
Left to cherish his memory and mourn his loss are his wife, Linda-Manners Lineberger, two sons, Bryant Devon Little( Mary) ,James Quentin Best (Sharika), one daughter Kisha Dichelle Lineberger, eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one sister, Sharon Little, four brothers Tony, David, Barry, and Jerry Lineberger and a hosts of relatives and friends!
