Joe Mccaslin

January 17, 1935 — January 28, 2019

Joe Franklin McCaslin, Sr. 84 of Conover died Monday, January 28th, 2019 at Carolina Caring. Born Thursday, January 17th, 1935 he was the son of the late George Franklin McCaslin and Grace Hood McCaslin. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed camping at Green Mountain Park in Lenoir, loved coaching Little League Baseball, playing with his dogs, Sassy and Nippy and gardening. He retired from Southern Furniture after 47 years of service.

His wife Linda McCaslin of the home; a son Joe McCaslin, Jr. and wife Susie of Newton; two daughters, Trudy Poovey and husband Tim of Conover and Shandra Black and husband Ken of Hickory; two brothers, Thurman McCaslin of Vale, NC and Austin McCaslin and wife Janice of Vale, NC; two step daughters, Linda Charlene Mullins and husband Larry of Clintwood, VA and Wendi Fleming of Bessemer City; a step son, Michael Fleming and wife Heidi of Darlington, SC; two sisters, Margaret Alexander of Clemmons, NC and Ruby Buff and husband Ralph of Boone; six grandchildren, Adrian McCaslin, Allison Patton, Bryan Poovey, Amber Hicks, Taylor Black, Jordan Black; seven step grandchildren, Jessica Mateyunas, Kellie Joyner, Samantha Graham, Stefanie Mullins, Josh Mullins, Konner Rothrock and Michael Fleming, ll; and 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews survive him.

Three brothers, Palmer McCaslin, John McCaslin and Noah McCaslin and two sisters, Mildred McCaslin and Ola Brittain preceded him in death.

The funeral will be 2:00 pm Saturday February 2, 2019 at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tim Hudson officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6-8:30 pm Friday February 1, 2019 at the Celebration Center of Jenkins Funeral Home.
