John Henry Hunsucker, 94 of Claremont died Sunday, September 28th, 2014 at Carolina Care Center in Cherryville. Born September 27th, 1920 he was the son the late Wade Alexander and Pearl Lee Setzer Hunsucker. He was a retired house painter. He loved to fish at the coast. In his early days, he raised exotic animals as well as pet dogs. He was never without a pocket knife. He had the honor of painting lettering on the USS Mousouri Battleship in which he painted the wrong call letters. A son, John W. Hunsucker and wife Linda of Cherryville; a sister, Catherine Bowman and husband Bill of Casey, SC; two brothers, James W. Hunsucker of Claremont and Fred Hunsucker and wife Pauline of Claremont; five grandchildren, Cathy Nguyen, Lynn Barajas, Charlotte Bass, Jeffrey Hunsucker and James Moreau; eight great grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Joe Best of Skiatook, OK and numerous nieces and nephews survive him. His wife of 35 years, Elouise Juanita Costello Hunsucker; three brothers, Everett Hunsucker, Bob Hunsucker and Bill Hunsucker; a sister, Ann Felts preceded him in death. The funeral will be 11:00am Wednesday, October 1st, 2014 at Mountain View Methodist Church 1248 Balls Creek Road in Claremont with Pastor Rich Irwin officiating. Burial will follow at the church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30pm Tuesday September 30, 2014 at the church.
