John Alvin Miller 87 of Hickory died Sunday, May 21st, 2017 at his residence. Born February 8th, 1930 he was the son of the late Loy Franklin Miller and Zelda Hawn Miller. A US Navy Veteran, he worked at Hickory Sheet Metal for over 40 years. His wife of 62 years, Catherine Fulbright Miller of the home; twin brother Joe Miller of Hickory and a sister, Revonda Harris of Hickory; numerous nieces and nephews survive him. Two brothers, Charles Miller, Harold Miller; five sisters, Helen Frye, Dorothy Reed, Barbara Jean Isenhour, Evelyn Pitts and Mary Frances Yount; a son, Curtis Miller, preceded him in death. The funeral will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 24th, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. John David Bryant officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery with military rites provided by American Legion Post 48. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 pm Wednesday, May 24th, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church 1911 Zion Church Road, Hickory, NC 28602.
